Conyers, GA – May 30-31, 2009
Archers from across the country converged onto Conyers, Georgia to compete for a position on the 2009 FITA Outdoor World Championship Team. The USA team will compete at the 45th World Target Championships to be held in Ulsan, Korea – September 1st through the 10th, 2009. Team Hoyt heavy hitters like Reo Wilde, Dave Cousins, Braden Gellenthein, Erika Anschutz, and Jamie Van Natta, to only name a few, were in attendance.
The weather seemed to be a bit mild on the first day of competition, resulting in 6- 1400+ scores being shot on the qualifying day; Gellenthien shooting a Vantage Elite, with a score of 1407, Cleland 1401, Cousins 1401 and Van Natta 1403. The field was cut to the top 8 archers in each division after the qualification round. Of the 16 spots available, 12 spots were taken by Hoyt shooters: Gellenthien, Cleland, Cousins, R. Wilde, Menzer, and in women’s compound: Van Natta, Anschutz, Nicely, Watson, Pruitte, B. Lorenti and Johnston.
The final day of competition brought on some anxious moments for the archers. Mother Nature chose to bring a bit of wind onto the playing field. Nonetheless, Team Hoyt showed their muscle by sweeping the trials process in both the Men and Women’s Compound Divisions.
The 2009 FITA Outdoor Target Championship Men’s Compound team consists of Braden Gellenthien and Reo Wilde shooting the Hoyt Vantage Elite and Dave Cousins shooting the Hoyt Ultra Elite.
The 2009 FITA Outdoor Target Championship Women’s team consists of Erika Anschutz shooting a Hoyt Pro Elite, Samantha Pruitte, and Kendal Nicely both shooting the Hoyt Ultra Elite.
Hoyt would like to congratulate all the competitors of the 2009 World Target Team Trials. To view the bows of choice for the 2009 USA FITA World Target Compound Teams, please follow this link http://www.hoyt.com/compound_bows/
