Hoyt shooters dominate final leg of European Grand Prix
by Dean Alberga
At the final leg of the 2010 European Grand Prix series in Moscow, Hoyt shooters continued their domination as they’ve done all season – with gold medals in all categories.
In the Women’s Compound Division, former World Cup finalist Anna Kazantseva (RUS) took the gold over fellow Hoyt shooter Sarah Prieels (BEL). Anna had been away from international competition for almost two years, but she and her Carbon Matrix lead the field all week and managed to stay there until the very end.
In the Men’s Compound Division, the battle came down to two of this season’s World Cup heroes, Italian Sergio Pagni and Lithuanian Vladas Sigauskas. Both men fought hard in the heat of the day, with Vladas taking the win this time. He also won the Compound Mixed Team event. Both of these Hoyt shooters are on track to make to the World Cup Finals in Edinburgh later this year.
Team Hoyt’s winning streak continued with Viktorya Koval of the Ukraine taking the Women’s Recurve gold. Ranked first after qualification, she kept her cool and was never in any trouble during elimination. After winning the recent World Cup in Antalya, Turkey, this is her second international win this season. Viktorya shoots the new FORMULA®RX. Together with her teammate and Hoyt shooter Dmitro Hrachov, she also won the Recurve Mixed Team event.
Antonio Fernandez (ESP) sealed the deal in the Men’s Recurve category, defeating his fellow countryman Jose Raoul Riera, which he did convincingly. Jacek Proc from Poland finished third. Both Antonio and Jacek shoot the new Hoyt FORMULA® RX.
Hoyt would like to congratulate all of its shooters on an excellent showing at the the final leg of the 2010 European Grand Prix.
