Gusty, hot, humid weather proved no challenge for Team Hoyt in the 2011 Asian Grand Prix just held in Bangkok, Thailand. Top shooters from across the world converged on the tropical heat of Thailand for the first major outdoor event of the 2011 season, and when it was over Team Hoyt took two of three medals in men’s recurve action.
French National Team member and World Cup medalist Jean Charles VALLADONT showed that he has made great progress after the setback of a non-archery related shoulder injury last season, taking the silver medal after an outstanding 664 qualification round (double 70) , while Russian Federation shooter Alexey BANOV used his FORMULA RX to take the bronze over fellow Team Hoyt shooter CHENG Chu Sian of Malaysia.
“More of our top competitors are using Hoyt bows for the 2011 season, and the results have been very gratifying”, said Russian Federation Archery chief Vladimir ECHEEV. “We look forward to more victories with Hoyt as we prepare for the upcoming Summer Games in London.”
In compound category action former Chinese Olympic Team member and Hoyt shooter TANG Hua took the men's gold medal, with an overwhelming victory in the final despite only picking up his Hoyt compound at the start of the year.
