Team Hoyt Dominates World Archery Youth Championship

Nicely wins gold for USA

LEGNICA, Poland August 28 2011


At the 2011 Youth World Championships in Legnica, Poland, this week, team Hoyt shooters dominated the field of play with some top-scores, top-finishes and World Records!


Compound Cadet Women

Hoyt shooter Ella HUGO (AUS) took the bronze medal in the Compound Cadet Woman’s category defeating DYLYKOVA Bairma (RUS) with 140-132.

Emily PEARCE (USA) and MICHAELS (USA) were part of the winning team that took the gold medal in the team event


Compound Cadet Men

In the Compound Cadet category Hoyt shooters Ludovic DOMANSKI (BEL) went home with silver, and Ali DAVARCI (TUR) closed down the podium with a bronze medal.

In the team event it was the all Hoyt team of Danny BUTTON, Bridger DEATON and Riley WHITING (USA) who were victorious to claim the gold. DEATON also took home an extra gold medal for his performance in the mixed-team event.



Compound Junior Men

After a 7th place in qualification Colann SCHREUDERS (NED) stormed on to the finals defeating the current senior world champion and faced fellow Hoyt shooter Christos AERIKOS (GRE) resulting in a tight match 145-144 in favor of the Dutch archer. Hoyt shooter Jesse GALE (GBR) took the bronze after defeating the multiple world record holder and number one qualifier Mike SCHLOESSER (NED).


In the Junior Mixed Team competition, the Dutch, Inge VAN CASPEL, Mike SCHLOESSER again with some staggering scores to take the gold medal. Team USA (Kendal NICELY, Garrett ABERNETHY) took the silver medal in this mixed team final.


Compound Junior Woman

In the final it was Hoyt’s Kendal NICELY vs. the world champion from 2008 and Hoyt shooter, Inge VAN CASPEL. NICELY showed that she was not giving up this gold medal and won the match with a new world junior record of 148! Naomi MARTENS (BEL) and her Hoyt took the bronze in this World Championship.


In the team round the all Hoyt Mexican team claimed victory and the gold medal.


Recurve Cadet Woman

Alejandra VALENCIA (MEX) and her Formula RX overwhelmed her opponent in a 7-1 victory to claim the bronze in the individual competition.


Recurve Junior Woman

In the mixed team event it was Carrie WEGH, Rick VAN DER VEN (NED) and their Formula RX’s that grabbed a Silver medal.


Recurve Junior Men

In the Junior Men’s category it was the all Formula RX team of Rick VAN DEN OEVER, Rick VAN DER VEN and Mitch DIELEMANS (NED) that grabbed a bronze medal.
