The NFAA Outdoor National Championships were held this past weekend in Darrington, WA. Archers were treated to a weeklong event in the beautiful Pacific Northwest Mountains. This was the last event for the NFAA of the season as archers geared up for one more run at shooter of the year.
For the men’s pro class this weekend belonged to Ben English. Ben shot the high score each of the three days and earned his first ever major pro win. Ben won with an impressive 13 point margin over second place. Jesse Broadwater took third after he finished the final round tied and had a shoot off on a 70 yard hunter round target to settle third place.
Jamie Van Natta had a strong shooting weekend and added to her impressive streak of outdoor nationals victories with a 47 point victory over second. In addition to her first place tournament finish Jaime Van Natta also finished the season with shooter of the year honors for the women’s pro class.
The senior pros saw many new faces in their class in Darrington as this was the first national event since the minimum age was dropped to 50 from 55. Although there were some new comers to the Senior Pro group, Joe Kapp was no stranger to the podium this year as he rounded out the top three.
That completes the season for the NFAA. The ASA and IBO will also be completing their seasons as well over the next two weekends. The ASA Classic in Cullman, AL is August 2nd - 4th and the IBO World Championships are in Seven Springs, PA August 7th- 10th.
