Hoyt Shooters Dominate Versus MX

4/02/2014

Guadalajara, Mexico played host to the Versus MX tournament, and shooters came from across the globe to take part in this “round robin” head to head format which is an outdoor version of the popular Face2Face tournament.

Shooting began with a 72 arrow qualification round that saw Hoyt shooters take the top spots in each category. Mexico’s Aida Roman, shooting her trusted Ion-X/Formula Quattro riser/limb combo, dominated Women’s Recurve with a 655, 23 points ahead of her nearest competitor. USA’s Collin Klimitchek led Men’s recurve qualification with a 669 and Jake Kaminski was second with a 665, both shooting the Ion-X/Formula Quattro limbs. Mexico’s Linda Ochoa piloted her Pro Comp Elite to a 695, 14 points ahead of the rest of the Women’s Compound field. Mexico’s Julio Fierro shot an impressive 710 to cap the Men’s Compound qualification. Fierro shoots the new Hoyt Pro Edge Elite.

The top 48 archers were placed into groups, and shot round robin matches as the field was cut from 48 to 24, then to 12, and finally trimmed to the top 4.

Roman continued her dominant performance and easily took Gold in Women’s Recurve, while Team Hoyt shooter Ariel Giblaro bested fellow Hoyt shooter and USA Team member Mackenzie Brown for the Bronze Medal.

Men’s Recurve saw Team Hoyt shooter Pedro Vivas (MEX) work his way up the field with his GMX riser and Quattro limbs to claim Gold.

Women’s Compound saw four Hoyt shooters advance to the final 4. When the dust settled, Ochoa bested Erika Jones (USA), and Rosalia Domiguez (MEX) topped Albina Loginova (RUS) for bronze to complete the Hoyt sweep.

Men’s Compound also had a field of four Hoyt shooters set to do battle. Current Outdoor World Champion and Vegas Champion Mike Schloesser (NED) came away with victory over Fierro after a thrilling one arrow shoot-off in which both archers shot X’s, with Schloesser’s being almost dead center to capture the win. Roberto Hernandez (El Salvador) bested Hoyt employee Steve Anderson for the bronze.

Tournament after tournament, Hoyt shooters are claiming more podium real estate than any competitor. Visit your local Hoyt dealer to learn more about the best performing bows in archery. Get Serious. Get Hoyt.
