Hoyt Shooters Take 9 of 12 Medals at Shanghai World Cup
Stage 1 of the World Archery World Cup series was held in Shanghai, China and Team Hoyt shooters took home plenty of hardware.
Women’s Compound was an All-Hoyt affair: Korean star Choi Bomin defeated Colombian shooting star Sarah Lopez in the gold medal match. Last year’s World Cup Final winner Alejandra Usquiano (COL) completed the Hoyt podium sweep with a win in the bronze medal match.
Men’s Compound saw an All-Hoyt gold medal final between Sebastien Peineau and Pierre Julien Deloche, both of France. In the fierce battle between the two top shooters, Sebastien was able to overcome his countryman and walked away with the top honors, leaving Deloche with silver.
In Women’s Recurve, reigning World Field Champion Elena Richter (GER) finished strong to claim the gold medal; and Olympic Silver Medalist Aida Roman dominated her opponent to win bronze.
Pierre Plihon (FRA) and Rick van der Ven (NED) claimed silver and bronze, respectively, in the Men’s Recurve category. Plihon, an employee of the famed Nimes Archery Club, shot very strong in his first international event for the French Federation.
