Duenas, Kaminski, Ellison Sweep Gator Cup
Team Hoyt shooters Crispin Duenas (Canada), Jake Kaminski (Florida) and Brady Ellison (Arizona) battled the windy conditions at the Easton Foundation Gator Cup in Newberry, Florida all weekend long and came out with podium finishes to complete a 1-4 Hoyt sweep.
Ellison closed the second half of qualification with a massive 346 to lead all shooters by 10 points. Hoyt Shooter Daniel McLaughlin (California) qualified in second, while Kaminski and Duenas went third and fourth, respectively. The four shooters would end up advancing through the 64 shooter elimination rounds and square off in the semi-finals. Duenas got the best of Ellison, and Kaminski shot strong to beat McLaughlin. In the final, Duenas beat Kaminski 7-3 to claim gold; and Ellison triumphed over McLaughlin 6-4 to earn bronze.
All four shooters were using the Hoyt ION-X riser with Formula Quattro limbs.
Team Hoyt’s LaNola Pritchard and Mackenzie Brown claimed silver and bronze in Women’s Recurve. Erika Jones tied for the highest score in Women’s Compound qualification, and went on to claim silver; while Reo Wilde shot the highest score of the entire field and went on to win bronze in Men’s Compound.
The attention now shifts to the second stage of the World Archery World Cup series in Medellin, Colombi, where Team Hoyt will look to continue their podium dominating performance from stage one in Shanghai.
